Janice Aubry began her career as an elementary teacher and French language specialist. Over a distinguished 34-year career, she served in a variety of leadership roles within Edmonton Public Schools, including teacher, consultant, supervisor, and director. She also held positions as a manager and team leader in the Curriculum Department of Alberta Education and as an instructor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta.

Janice Aubry has been the lead writer, writing team member, or director of hundreds of locally-developed, provincial and interprovincial curricula, curriculum frameworks and resources. She has advised governments, school authorities and organizations across Canada and internationally on curriculum, pedagogy, programming, standards and leadership. In addition, she has provided professional learning to teachers and leaders around the world. She also designed, developed and directed the Institute for Innovation in Second Language Education at Edmonton Public Schools. She has received numerous awards.

In her volunteer work, Janice has served on many boards, including serving as President of the Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers (CASLT). She currently serves as Vice President of the Edmonton Retired Teachers’ Association.

In 2021, she established J Aubry Consulting+. She continues to consult, facilitate, write, speak and present locally, nationally and internationally. Her latest published resource is Leading Successful Language Programs: A Tool for Educational Administrators of Additional Language (L+) Programs, commissioned by CASLT, and she is currently working to co-author a companion resource.
